Family History

When Bill and Tracy were young and living at 1202 E. Williams, Jerry and Betty used to play tricks on them with food. Jerry tricked us into thinking that the chicken wings were the best part of a chicken dinner and tried to fight us for them. We tried to take the wings from the plate before Jerry did and leave him with none. He had to take the legs and thighs or chicken breasts when that was all that was left, and he talked it up and laughed after we had ‘won’. Betty was always trying to lower the cost of our meals. She tricked us by mixing dry condensed milk powder and water together to make milk instead of buying milk in a carton from the dairy department. For a long time we didn’t realize we were drinking ‘fake’ milk instead of the real thing. The jig was up when we saw her mixing up a batch in a plastic container and stirring it up. Looking back, this was a fun time growing up.
