Personal History
William McClelland Waggoner, who was often called “Will”, was born during the American Civil War (1861-1865) and named after General McClelland who fought in the war.
He loved to eat peanuts. Jerry Waggoner loved his grandfather very much.
William Major Waggoner was named after him as his namesake.
William McClelland was an Engineer for the Illinois Central Railroad. William Major Waggoner was named after him as his namesake and inherited his great-grandfather’s gold railroad pocket watch and his cigarette lighter.
He died of uremic poisoning – kidney failure.
