William R. Ryan, 65, of Chatham, IL, died at 6:38 a.m. Thursday at his residence.
He was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Centralia, the son of Charles and Marie Waggoner Ryan. He married Mary F. Boevingloh in 1952. He was preceded in death by a brother, James H. Ryan, M.D. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Chatham, and the Illinois, American and Sangamon County Bar Associations.
An attorney, Mr. Ryan was a recipient of the distinguished service award from the Illinois State's Attorneys organization. He attended St. Louis University and Cumberland University, where he earned his law degree. He was admitted to practice in Illinois, Tennessee and Georgia and before the U.S. Supreme Court.State Journal-Register(Springfield, IL) - June 2, 1989
