He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest H. Moulton of North Market street and was born October 27, 1899. He was a graduate of the Marion City schools and Marion Township High School.

Ova answered the call of his country in 1919 and served in the great World War I in the U.S. Navy. In a 1920 census he is shown as single. He is a student in 1921 in the dental program at George Washington University in Washington, DC. In a 1922 city directory for Marion, Illinois, Ova and his wife Marie are shown living with his parent's in their home. He graduated from the St. Louis Dental School and had a large patronage in Marion before his departure. His grave marker above shows the letters DDS behind his name.

Dr. Moulton was commissioned as a First Lieutenant in the Army reserve corps in 1923 and was also a member of the American Legion in Washington, D.C. previous to moving west.

Dr. Ova L. Moulton suffered from T.B. and was living at the Veterans Hospital in Tucson, Arizona for his health. He died there about 12 o’clock Friday, November 14, 1924. At the time of his death he was 25 years and 188 days old. According to the Arizona death certificate, he had been in Tucson for 1 month and 3 days before his death.

Besides his parents he leaves a widow, formerly Miss Marie Stanley, a five months old son Ernest and two sisters, Mrs. George Ozment and Miss Ruth Moulton. His mother, Maude A. (Arnold) Moulton was at his bedside when he died.

Funeral services for Dr. Ova L. Moulton were held on Wednesday, at 2 pm at the First Baptist church in Marion. They were conducted by Dr. A.E. Prince and Dr. J.W. Cummins. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

After Ova’s death, his wife Marie marries Emmet Hall Elder in 1927. Emmet died in 1937. Marie marries a third time in 1949 to retired Lt. General Eugene Reybold.

Ova’s son’s name is in question. Name given on the death certificate and transferred to burial was E. Stanley Moulton. However, on his WW2 registration card his name is Stanley Moulton Elder. He could have been the son of Ova’s second wife Marie (Stanley) (Moulton) Elder and her husband Emmett Elder.
