Wilma’s Children with Calbert Roberson

Wilma’s maiden name is incorrectly spelled on her official marriage documents to Calbert Roberson. The documents included her Marriage Certificate and her Wedding Certificate. Instead of Wilma Sinclair, these documents show her name as Wilma St. Clair. Burial records of Wilma’s parents, father James Sinclair and mother Margaret Dorinda (Burkett) Sinclair show the name on their Tombstone as being “Sinclair” and not “St. Clair”. Betty Waggoner confirmed her mother’s name was Sinclair as the only name she ever knew her by when I spoke with her on the telephone about the confusion on April 12, 2024.

In October 2024, my sister Tracy Hopkins told me a story about our mother. Betty told Tracy that she once pretended to have a cigarette in her hand while a family picture was being taken. I believe that picture is shown on the previous page. Take note of the position of Betty’s right hand and the smile on her face. I always wondered why Betty’s hand was in such an ‘odd’ position and I thought her smile was a bit ‘devious’. Now I know .

Wilma never liked living alone. She always wanted to be with a husband:

Wilma divorced Calbert Roberson in November 1950 after she discovered he was having an affair with another woman.

Wilma married William ‘Bill’ Nye Hambrecht in December 1950 one month after her divorce with Calbert.

Wilma married Raymond Myers in January 1979 after ‘Bill’ Hambrecht died in March 1977.

She divorced Raymond in August 1981 and re-married him again in October 1982.

She died five days after her second marriage to Raymond.

Wilma was happiest in her marriage with ‘Bill’ Hambrecht. I always liked being with my grandpa and grandma Hambrecht as a young boy. She was a great cook and made a fantastic lemon meringue pie.

Wilma made Tracy Hopkins’ Wedding Dress by hand for her. Wilma did this while she was living by herself in her Danville apartment after her husband William Nye Hambrecht passed away and before she married Raymond Myers for the first time.
